BREAKING NEWS!!

60 year old Dok Lak and 30 year old Mare Ladee desperately need your help

BREAKING NEWS - BLES NEEDS YOUR URGENT HELP TO RESCUE TWO BEAUTIFUL ELEPHANTS!!

Beautiful Dok Lak and sweet Mare Ladee

Dok Lak is a beautiful 60 year old female elephant, who has worked most of her life in the tourism camps here in Thailand. She was retired by her owners two years ago, together with her best friend, Mare Ladee. The owners moved them from the camp in Pattaya, to their home village in Isarn, Eastern Thailand, where they thought they would be able to provide a decent life for the girls. However, due to the global pandemic and huge loss of income, the owners can now no longer afford to keep their elephants and have reached out to BLES for help.

We have just returned home from visiting the family and were able to speak with the owners in person. They love their elephants very much and are heartbroken that they can no longer provide for them. It should be acknowledged that for the last two years, this family have put the care of their two elephants first and foremost.

Times are extremely tough the world over right now. Lives across the globe have been devastated by the pandemic - human and animals alike. Dok Lak and Mare Ladee deserve a fresh start and urgently need our help.

Right now, they can not be taken off of their short chains, because the local farmers surrounding their shelter are planting rice and do not want the elephants walking across their land. This means the elephants have no other access to water, in these extremely high temperatures, other than a small hose. Their diet consists of discarded pineapple heads, because that is all that is available.

This is no life and these elephants are not happy. Their owners are not happy and want so much more for them….

BLES has offered a forever home to both of these beautiful female elephants. We will be able to give Dok Lak and Mare Ladee a brand new and exciting lease on life - hundreds of acres of forest, ponds and lakes, the opportunity to graze on natural fodder, supplementary and nutritional feed, medical care, a chance to explore socialising with other rescued elephants and most importantly - the gift of staying together.

If we are unable to raise the funds needed to secure the rehoming of both Dok Lak and Mare Ladee, they will inevitably be separated. This will be devastating to them both, as well as their owners, who desperately want them to stay together, forever, in true sanctuary.

The owners, who are elderly, have themselves, wanted to retire for many years now. They hope to take care of their grandchildren and so the funds raised to buy the two elephants, will provide this family with their much deserved retirement fund.

The total amount needed, for both elephants, including rescue costs is $80 000.

It has been a very long time since BLES has been able to welcome in a new elephant and now we have the opportunity to rescue two!

Please help us, help them - every individual contribution plays such an important part in saving Dok Lak and Mare Ladee. We truly can not do this without your support.

Every hour, of everyday, Dok Lak and Mare Ladee stand, chained to the spot. They are hot, they are bored, they are frustratrated and their future wellbeing lies in your hands - you are the ones with the power to release them to sanctuary.

We have to work quickly to raise the funds - rainy season is on it way, which means floods and dangerously slippery roads. If the funds are not secured ASAP - we will not be able to transport the elephants for several more months….

Donations can be easily sent via Paypal using this link - http://PayPal.me/bles809

I will be posting regular updates and give you my word, as I did to Dok Lak and Mare Ladee, that I will do everything in my power to make this happen. Those two beautiful girls are relying on us.

Trunks of thanks in advance and a thousand times over for your support,
